How to identify defects in sheet metal parts?

Dec 27,2021

In the process of sheet metal processing, common defects on the surface of the sheet metal processing cabinet include debris on the base layer, serious color difference, surface scratches, peeling of the coating, paint flow, exposed substrate, powder accumulation, etc. Next, the sheet metal manufacturer-Aihao Metal Products Factory will tell you how to identify sheet metal defects?

     1. The causes of surface scratches are more complicated and run through the entire process of product production, but they can be roughly divided into two categories:

One is the scratches produced during the processing of the product

The second is the scratches caused by the logistics in the production process.

    2. The peeling off of the coating layer is mainly due to the insufficient bonding force between the coating layer and the substrate. The main methods for detecting the bonding force are impact test and cross-cut test.

    3. Exposed substrate means that there is no coating on the surface, and the main cause is missing spray and large-area scratches.

    4. Severe chromatic aberration means that the color of the same surface is inconsistent, and the chromatic aberration value exceeds 1.

    5. The presence of debris in the base layer refers to the defects caused by the surface of the substrate that is not cleanly treated during the surface treatment. It is the main reason for the peeling of the coating layer.

    6. The principles of paint flow and powder accumulation are roughly the same, except that the paint flow is generated when spraying paint, and the powder accumulation is generated when spraying plastic. Both of these defects are caused by excessive spray volume and thickness.
